The Director of Project Management is responsible for leading and overseeing the delivery of complex, high-impact technical projects and programs across the organization. This role will report to the AVP of Project Management. The Director of Project Management will manage and is responsible for the development of a team of project managers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while aligning technical execution with strategic business objectives. The Director is a hands-on leader, accountable for project management methodologies, resource allocation, risk management, and continuous improvement of processes and team capabilities.

Summary of Strategic & Technical Execution Job Duties

  • lead cross-functional teams to deliver complex technical projects on time, within scope and budget, ensuring technical excellence and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all delivery streams, including software development, system integrations, certifications, quality assurance, and production deployments.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, partners, engineering teams, and vendors throughout the delivery of each project.
  • Work directly with clients (at all levels of management) to establish and define scope, requirements, and deliverables; demonstrate deep knowledge of products and services to align solutions with client needs.
  • Track and report all project expenditures; ensure prompt and accurate invoicing as appropriate, including but not limited to: man hours spent, by role, price of services from third parties and any other project related costs.
  • Manage and contribute to all facets of project artifacts and documentation (requirements, design, specifications, release information, training material, flow diagrams, communication artifacts, approvals, etc.).
  • This role will actively support and collaborate with Product Owners, Software Engineering Managers, Architects, QA Managers, and other internal/external stakeholders.
  • Establish and execute communication plans, providing regular updates and executive-level reporting to stakeholders and clients.
  • Coordinate meetings with clients, partners, integrators, and internal resources.
  • Produce executive-level reporting and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Act as a thought leader within Engineering and the company as a whole, focusing on strategic improvements outside of the day-to-day objectives.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on continuous growth and positive communication.

Summary of Operational & People Leadership Job Duties

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project and program managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • This role will be responsible for direct reports, such as ITPM I, ITPMII, Sr. ITPM, and others as assigned.
  • Focus on the growth and personal development process for direct reports, including garnering new skills and refining existing ones.
  • Allocate resources and staff for successful execution of projects; manage capacity planning and prioritization.
  • Monitor and control project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, report status, issues, and risks to executive management.
  • Facilitate problem-solving and decision-making within the team and among stakeholders.
  • Conduct project reviews, create detailed reports, and present executive-level updates internally and externally.
  • Develop and enhance project management methodologies, tools, and training programs.
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, and career development for project management staff; deliver performance assessments and manage corrective actions as needed.
  • Recommend internal process, policy, and quality improvements; author artifacts to
  • be used as training materials or guides for project management or related teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant training in principles and techniques of project management, engineering delivery management and/or software development delivery. Strong experience with systems concepts, process modeling, and development delivery standards. Provide expertise in project delivery, requirements gathering, functionality, performance, security, aesthetics, resilience, reuse, comprehensibility, and economic and technological tradeoffs.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management, Management Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in technical project management, engineering delivery management, software development, software delivery or IT project delivery, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Relevant industry certifications preferred (PMP, PRINCE II, Scrum Master, Agile, Lean Six Sigma).
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale, multi-team technical projects and programs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills; ability to anticipate risks and drive solutions.
  • Deep understanding of project management methodologies, SDLC, cloud infrastructure, and system architecture.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; proven ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
  • Experience with project management tools (Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Monday.com, Wrike, ServiceNow, etc.).
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Experience with financial technologies, processor integrations, or similar technical domains is a plus
