This position performs complex research, design, and software development assignments within a software functional area or product line, and provides direct input to project plans, schedules, and methodology in the development of cross-functional software products. This position performs software design — typically across multiple systems; mentors more-junior members of the team; and talks to users/customers and translates their requests into solutions.
About the Role & Team:
We have a monolithic web-based Java application that is accessible from the public Internet. It is written in Java11, using Spring, Hibernate and Tapestry. This position would need to support both the web-based Java Application and be able to write API for the backend application
Primary Responsibilities:
Identify and analyze customer requirements
Deliver high-quality and efficient Java EE applications
Design, develop and maintain Java applications within all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle
Recommend software solutions to emerging needs
Communicate effectively with DEV, QA, and Support teams
Work with external vendors for integrated solutions without comprising the integrity of our applications
Perform code reviews
Mentor and lead junior developers on the team
Execute production releases working with internal teams
Document processes and features as needed
Skill Required
Advanced experience in Java, JEE, Webservices and Database concepts
Web programming, user interface design experience, and database design
Knowledge of Unix commands to perform deployments on Linux servers
Good time management skills
Problem solving abilities
Excellent communication skills
Preferred
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related field
7+ years of application development experience
Responsibilities :
• Interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
• Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.
• Complete complex bug fixes.
• Work closely with other development team members to understand complex product requirements and translate them into software designs.
• Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
• Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
• Resolve complex technical issues as necessary.
• Train entry-level software engineers as directed by department management, ensuring they are knowledgeable in critical aspects of their roles.
• Keep abreast of new technology developments.
• Design and work with complex data models.
• Mentor less-senior software developers on development methodologies and optimization techniques.
• All other duties as assigned.
