My SQL DBA

Are you a MySQL DBA looking to transform our on-prem environment?

About the role: This position will handle all aspects of Database Implementation, Administration, and work closely with SRE’s and software developers to build best-in-class Database solutions through automation and an IAC (Infrastructure As Code) approach. You will help transform on-prem databases into a modern cloud implementation at Enterprise scale with an eye toward operational excellence. This includes HA, DR strategies. Our goal is to automate our database implementation and administration at scale with reusable code as our force multiplier. You will be central to optimizing our processes, infrastructure, system performance.

About the team: This team supports all aspects of Database Implementation and Administration, and we work closely with SRE’s and software developers to build best-in-class Database solutions through automation and an IAC (Infrastructure As Code) approach.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensuring data and operational security through secure design, effective access management, and secure storage practices.

• Ensuring reliability through HA, DR implementations and good administration practices.

• Ensuring fast recovery through highly automated and well-tested backup processes.

• Monitoring system performance and identifying problems early by helping to develop high quality monitoring systems.

• Responding in a timely manner to support requests. Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance.

• Finding ways to improve the reliability, performance, observability, and cost effectiveness of our database assets.

Skills:

• Possess current experience as a MySQL DBA. Experiences with other databases such as MongoDB/CosmosDB, MS SQL a plus.
• Have the ability to demonstrate experience with running Cloud Infrastructure. Azure Cloud experience a plus

• Experience in query optimization and performance improvement.

• Knowledge of the cloud and managed services such as MS Flex Server or AWS RDS.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD tools such as Terraform/Terragrunt and GitHub Actions

• Modern observability/alerting platform experience: Grafana, ELK, DataDog, Splunk, etc.
• Mastery of current DB best practices and design patterns.

• Good conceptual knowledge of OODB’s

• Automation skills in Bash, Golang, Python a plus.
