About the Role

As a Software Engineering Lead, you will serve as a subject matter expert and a key resource for a team of talented software engineers. You will guide technical direction, contribute to complex system and application development, and help shape project plans and methodologies. This leadership position includes people-management responsibilities. We value diverse perspectives and recognize that leadership comes in many forms. Responsibilities

• Act as a primary point of contact for software development questions and challenges within your area of responsibility, collaborating with technical and non-technical team members to clarify requirements and resolve issues.

• Author and review detailed specifications for system components and contribute to the resolution of complex software issues.

• Work closely with your team and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective software designs.

• Champion best practices in software development, quality assurance, and coding standards across multiple methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall), fostering an environment where learning and improvement are prioritized.

• Mentor and support the development of early-career software engineers, sharing your knowledge and experience to help others grow.

• Carry out people-management responsibilities, including supporting inclusive hiring and training, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring a positive, respectful work environment for all team members.

• Ensure everyone on the team has access to the resources, training, and support they need to excel in their roles. Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to help individuals achieve their goals.

• Stay up to date with new technologies and industry trends. Encourage and value new ideas that drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Experience working with various resource models, such as managed services and/or staff augmentation, with an understanding of industry best practices in software development and team collaboration.

• Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies (such as Agile and Waterfall), and an ability to partner with diverse teams to solve complex challenges using test-driven development and strong research skills.

• Proficiency in development languages such as HPCC, ECL, Airflow (Batch Jobs), PySpark, and Python; openness to learning new languages and tools as needed.

• Experience designing and working with complex data models, familiarity with multiple types of data storage, and the ability to translate business objectives into actionable project plans.

• Strong organizational, project planning, and time management skills, with the ability to lead and prioritize projects across multiple teams and functional groups.

• Demonstrated experience in collaborative problem-solving, including leading teams to research and resolve challenges, and presenting findings and solutions effectively.

• Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and the ability to engage with a wide range of audiences, including team members, management, and customers. We value clear, concise, and inclusive communication at all levels.
