The HumanAPI Operations Engineering Team is a key part of the LexisNexis Risk Solutions insurance division, responsible for managing post-production operations, incident response, alerting, monitoring, and remediation. The team plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems. About the role:
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer/SRE to join this team, supporting a suite of internal systems critical to the performance and reliability of our enterprise insurance platform. This role focuses on building robust backend tools that enable operations teams to triage issues, perform impact analysis, monitor system health, and remediate policy/order-related failures efficiently.
This position is ideal for engineers who are passionate about enabling operational excellence through smart automation, data-driven insights, and scalable internal platforms. Your contributions will directly enhance service reliability, reduce downtime, and improve customer trust in our insurance services.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain backend tools and services that support operations workflows, including issue triage, order/policy remediation, and RCA automation.
Build internal dashboards, monitoring frameworks, and alerting systems to provide visibility into operational health and KPIs.
Work with large-scale datasets in big data processing platforms such as Databricks to drive operational insights, anomaly detection, and impact analysis.
Leverage AWS services (such as Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, etc.) to build tools and automation that enhance system monitoring, visibility, and operational effectiveness.
Participate in on-call rotations and incident reviews, helping to improve system reliability and operational response.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Support, Product, and Engineering to understand business pain points, provide feedback, and help drive improvements across the product and operational workflows.
Mentor junior developers and contribute to code quality through code reviews and design discussions.

Requirements:
5+ years of experience in backend software development using Node.js.
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, etc.)
Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, and Grafana for metrics collection, alerting, and dashboarding.
Experience working with Databricks or equivalent large-scale data platforms.
Experience building internal tools, automation scripts, and operational dashboards.
Solid understanding of microservices, APIs, and backend architecture principles to design and develop effective internal tools and operational workflows.
Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, code reviews, testing, version control, CI/CD.
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on production reliability and operational effectiveness.
