About the Team

Our teams are structured in collaborative squads, including a Squad Lead, Business Analyst, Development Lead, Developers, and Testers. This approach encourages connectivity, teamwork, and efficient delivery by focusing our collective strengths on shared goals. The Data Engineering Squad is responsible for developing the Brightmine Data Platform, and you’ll be joining a supportive group dedicated to continuous learning and shared success.

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer II this position performs complex research, design, and software development assignments within a software functional area or product line, and provides direct input to project plans, schedules, and methodology in the development of cross-functional software products. This position performs software design — typically across multiple systems; mentors more-junior members of the team; and talks to users/customers and translates their requests into solutions.Expertise in PySpark and cloud development (Databricks and Azure) is highly valued. The Senior Data Engineer will join the LNRS-Mumbai team to contribute to the Brightmine Data Platform project.

Responsibilities

  • Would undertake advanced research (Spikes), design, and software development tasks to support the Brightmine Project within the ITTC team.
  • Responsibilities include contributing to project plans and schedules, adhering to software development best practices and methodologies, and developing cross functional solutions leveraging data mesh architecture on Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Requires close collaboration with system architects, development teams, business analysts, and end-users to translate requirements into effective technical solutions

Requirements

  • Experience with Apache Spark, Python, Databricks, SQL/NoSQL, and preferably Azure.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Unix, with understanding of Data Manipulation Language (DML) and ETL concepts.
  • Experience with data pre-processing, modeling, profiling, and ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory or other Big Data platforms. Python skills are important, regardless of experience with specific ETL tools.
  • Ability to work with cloud technologies, ideally Azure and PySpark, with experience in cloud-based tools including Databricks and Data Factory, or similar solutions.
  • Familiarity with PySpark, basic Terraform, and software development methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new technologies and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to support end-to-end development and uphold code review standards and best practices.
